From Nancy we present you Rachid Wallas' debut album "Street Cradibility". You've heard the man on mixtapes, EP's and compilations. Because Nancy isn't your typical Hip Hop capitol Rachid had to take two steps for each stap an artist takes in Paris or Marseille. Still, he managed to create a buzz, making sure his album was among the most anticipated of 2005.
After recieving some teasers and promotional singles we were sure this album would be at least halfway decent. The album, dear boys and girls, not only reached expectations but easily exceeded them.
Monsieur Tee Bow gets credited for delivering most of the productional work on this album. This translates into, something many wouldn't expect, a fairly divergent sound. With "Grand écart" Wallas brings a nice banger to the table which would go neck to neck with any Rohhf or Booba banger.
"Un bail" with longtime affiliate Enrique Mendoz, "T'as pas idée 2" ft. Tai Pan and especially the impressive "Qu'est-ce qu'on fout là", on which Wallas jabs with Kohndo are pretty good tracks. Skeez is another producer who's been quite active on the boards for this album. "Au croisement" must be one of the better tracks he did, which has a summer vibe to it.
This honest and sincere album leaves all forms of pretension at the cutting table. The productions and lyrics are good which may be viewed at as a standard for good French Hip Hop releases. Rachid is a funny guy who came out of the starting blocks with a shitload of energy and he won't be slowing down any time soon. |
