Years passed since NTM split up, leaving a spot at the top of the scene for a new group from 93 (Aubervilliers) to claim the throne. Crashing on to the scene with their appereance on 2000's "Mission Suicide" compilation came Tandem. The two MC's, Mac Tyer and Mac Kregor, have since blessed the fans with remarkable wordplay and clever sylables. After a first EP in 2001 and a tape titled "Tandématique Modèle" they dropped their full length album in 2005 on Kilomaitre.
Especially popular with the fans of hardcore, true to the street hip hop, the duo relentlesly jabs back and forth over energized and dramatic soundscapes. On the first single from the album one spits "J’baiserai la France jusqu’à ce qu’elle m’aime" which perfectly describes the love/hate relation many youngsters feel when they're talk about France. The seemingly hopeless everyday situation is expressed on tracks like "Un jour comme un autre" on which Mac Tyler spits "Tu rigoles hein c’est la taule hein, Y a plus de poto quand t’es trop loin, Mais t’inquiète, moi j’oublie rien".
A second release from this album was the videoclip/mini-movie for "Le Jugement" which features the cream of the crop of the French rap scene. Diam's, Kery James, Faf Larage, Lino, Kazkami, Tunisiano and Tandem relive a court case with all the prejudice and lies one would come to expect.
The albums is full of lyrical gems which would make it a very big advantage if you'd actually understand the lyrics. The flows are great and the vibes and beats suit the lyrics very well. This is one of the albums which will be truly appreciated by those who understand the meaning of the words and like albums with introspective words.
