:: Les Specialistes / Reality Show

Calling the 6 year hiatus a long wait would be an understatement, but the IV My Peoples signees made it worth it. With their new opus "Reality Show" the duo, Princess Aniès and Tepa, took quick acquaintance to the general level of quality that's a modern day standard at the IV My People headquarters.

Back to prove haters wrong Aniès and Tepa spit pure fire on "Nos Rêves", the opening cut of their debut with IV My People, over a production by Dr. Swing, who handled the lion's share of the productional work on this album. Besides the latter track this producer also provide the backdrop for cuts like "Vie De Bohème", "Le Temps Perdu", "Notre Histoire" and possible the best song on the album "La France".

Although one would come to expect to see a lot of Madizm and Sec.Uno productions on the album, the duo of IV My People producers only took care of 5 tracks, which is a relatively low amount for any IV My People album. They do, however, put in some great work with "Qui Est Le Sexe Faible?", which is a great conceptual battle of the sexes between Tepa and Aniès.

Speaking of nice concepts, the album features some other conceptual jewels in "Il attend, elle attend", which speaks on prostitution, "A Qui Profite Le Crime?" on which Tepa and Aniès try to figure out the ways of crime and society and forgotten love on "Le Temps Perdu".

The only negatives would be the overabundance of the Le Remede skits and the totally negligible "Faut Que Tu T'lâches"."

Besides the sporadic exception to the rule, "Reality Show" is an album by a group which understands the necessary difference between quality and quantity; although it took a while their second album in 5 years doesn't disappoint. The album offers a broad array of positives, great flows, nice subject matter, tight beats and a good concept, and although it has it's weak spots ("Faut Que Tu T'lâches" and some forgettable interludes) it's a good piece of work.
